If you’ve lived in New Orleans long enough you know that while the Crescent City may initially seem large in size, New Orleans is actually quite small. Case in point, there’s a 5-degrees-of-separation-phenomenon that starts to ring true once you’ve lived in New Orleans or it’s outskirts long enough. A perfect example of what I mean, the Sins family! When this gorgeous New Orleans family contacted me to book their New Orleans Newborn Photography session I was over-the-moon. Not only are they an absolutely gorgeous-looking family (seriously, though!), but I essentially grew up knowing both mom and dad (even before they knew each other!). Glen and I went to middle school together and Toni and I went to high school together at good ole Cabrini High (if you’re a local (or even a NOLA transplant) you know how important your High School choice is when growing up in New Orleans!).
I had previously photographed their son Madden for his 3-year-old milestone session at City Park, New Orleans. He was an absolute hoot and I knew I had to photograph this family again! Once I found out Toni was expecting and wanted me to capture their newborn’s first portraits, I was so excited! The fact that this former cheerleader was expecting her first baby girl was the cherry on top!
We scheduled Olivia’s newborn studio photo session at 9 days old. Although super smitten by his little sister, Big Brother Madden was still a little apprehensive about holding her. We started with some parent newborn poses to help ease into things for him. I can’t speak for all women, but those daddy and baby newborn photos always leave me swooning! Once we finished with the parent and family newborn portraits, Madden was ready for his time to shine! A little Ms. Amy goofiness and Madden’s smiles and snuggles for his sister were more than perfect!
For the rest of the studio newborn session, we focused on little Olivia. Mom wanted to incorporate soft dusty-pink tones while keeping a classic and timeless vintage look. She pretty much gave me full creative reign over the newborn photo session and I just love the way everything turned out! Hints of monochromatic cream with vintage lace and soft colors were the perfect way to complement Olivia’s gorgeous newborn skin! Their finished gallery has more than 75 images (before black and white!) so it goes without saying that I just couldn’t stop capturing her perfect newborn face!

Know someone expecting? Please send them my way! Capturing those brand new babies brings my heart so much joy! Plus I can’t wait to see what five-degrees-of-separation we might share! 😉 Check out my Newborn Photography Session options and be sure to contact me with any questions you might have!
I just LOVED the way Olivia looked in this soft bubblegum pink wrap and newborn headband. Both are from one of my favorite Newborn Photography Prop vendors, The Indy Cottage. Both of the gorgeous newborn floral crowns used for Olivia’s New Orleans Newborn Photography session are from Baby Bliss Props.
